Jordan charged out the door. A bag of belongings slung over their shoulder as they stormed down the stairs and down the streets. Their hand met their face, trying to stop the tears from dotting the sidewalk. They couldn’t believe this! they couldn’t believe Sean. Their boyfriend of 4 years suddenly slacking off with Jordan’s own friend. Just the thought of that made them sick. They stopped in their tracks, glumly looking up at the sky. The rain felt like it was pitying them, at least it washed away their tears away. They proceeded to just stare into the gray sky above.

It’s like the world ended, 4 years all gone to waste. The rain suddenly stopped.. Jordan spots an expensive-looking umbrella held above them. Confusion overcame their face, looking to their side, they spot an unfamiliar face.

A key object stood by their side and the stranger seemed to have spotted their ongoing meltdown while having a simple walk. How embarrassing. Surprisingly, instead of being questioned about what happened, they received a simple “Bad day, huh?” From the stranger. They want to avoid any gaze at the moment, and so they received a simple “hm.” from Jordan.

The streets were mostly empty, with simply cars driving by from time to time, It's not very busy in Castivelle. Although the melancholy atmosphere felt like a mockery towards Jordan. The stranger guided them to a bench. A tree above the bench kept it dry and tidy, safe from the rain, and so they sat down.

A beat hung in the air.

“So, what’s the metter, my dear?” Jordan put both knees up to their chest, wrapping their arms around their legs. “Why are you asking. Why do you care.” They await an answer, but instead the stranger leans over to the side, silently studying them. “..w-what are you looking at.. are you stupid. Idiot…” Jordan moved their arms away from their knees and crossed them, with every second of the silence, their tears grew heavier, and there wasn’t much stopping Jordan from leaning onto the stranger and venting it all out, putting the betrayal they felt into words and actions. They squirmed in anger, holding their head and trying to cover their face, despite everything, the stranger held Jordan closely, and once they were done, they were done. They simply sat leaned onto them, dried from all tears with no more to fall.

“I’m sorry to hear that.” Said the stranger, before embracing Jordan more, “let’s get you a drink, hm?”

“…Sure.”

The two of them sat across from each other in a cafe, a table for 2 neatly prepared for the customers. Jordan played around with their drink, staring at it with an empty gaze, while the stranger studied them from across. “Name’s Jordan.” They exclaimed, looking up at the stranger and awaiting their name,

“Harper. Nice to meet you.”

“Yeah.”

An awkward silence hung in the air for a minute.

“So you don’t have anywhere to stay, yes?” Harper awaited a response, being met with a simple “mm-mm” as Jordan shook their head. Harper thought of the options, looking around the room as if visualising a big cardboard infront of them, to that Jordan just frowned at her, utterly confused.

“You can stay at mine for a bit, got a couch you could use.”

“You would wanna let some stranger you found a hour ago stay within the walls of your house.”

“yeah!”

“Are you crazy or utterly insane.”
